Due to circumstances beyond our control Charles Watkins will not be available for our March 15th meeting.

Instead, our own Jim Houchin will show us how we can use SQL server to make the task of monitoring SQL server easier.

So join us Thursday, March 15th, and let Jim should you how to make life easier for the DBA.

Abstract:

How can you use the capabilities of SQL server to help you monitor the status of multiple servers without having to monitor each server independantly? Leveraging the powers of SQL server’s Integration Services (SSIS) and Reporting Services (SSRS), you can create an extendable SSIS/SSRS based monitor for all SQL servers in our enterprise. SQL 2008 R2 Central Management server allows you to setup the monitoring once and then use it to monitor all your SQL servers.

Bio:

Jim Houchin has over ten years of experience in software design, development, and implementation, of web and database applications, with a touch of QA. Jim’s focus for the last year has been as a DBA at Yusen Logistics concentrating on SQL administration and maintenance on SQL 2000, 2005 and 2008R2. Jim also has a strong desire to learn new technologies and he is eager to share information.

Jim Houchin is a Vice-President of the Memphis PASS Chapter.
